Why you should never put your eggs in the fridge


If you’re like most people, you keep your eggs in the fridge. But did you know that this isn’t actually the best place for them? Here’s why you should never put your eggs in the fridge:

1. The temperature is too cold.

Eggs are delicate creatures and the cold temperature of the fridge can actually cause them to break. The ideal temperature for eggs is around 68-77 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. The humidity is too low.

When eggs are stored in the fridge, the humidity is typically around 40%. This is too low for eggs and can cause them to become dehydrated and cracked.

3. The vibrations can damage the eggs.

The fridge is full of all sorts of vibrations, from the compressor to the opening and closing of the door. These vibrations can damage the egg’s fragile structure, causing them to break.

4. It’s easy to forget about them.

If you store your eggs in the fridge, they’re out of sight and out of mind. It’s easy to forget about them and let them sit for weeks or even months. But eggs only have a shelf life of about 3-5 weeks, so it’s important to use them up within that time frame.

5. It’s not necessary.

The fridge is not the only place you can store your eggs. In fact, many countries around the world don’t refrigerate their eggs at all. If you’re worried about the safety of storing eggs at room temperature, just be sure to keep them in a cool, dark place.
