It’s official: Twitter is down, and everyone is freaking out. The social media platform went offline for users around the world on Thursday morning, leaving them unable to tweet, retweet, or like anything.

The outage appears to be widespread, with users in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries all reporting that they can’t access Twitter. The company has yet to acknowledge the outage on its official @TwitterSupport account.

The last time Twitter went down was in May, when a “internal system change” caused the site to go offline for about an hour. Prior to that, the last major outage was in November 2017, when a software bug caused the site to go down for several hours.

So what’s causing the latest Twitter outage? It’s hard to say at this point, but we’ll update this story as we learn more.

In the meantime, people are taking to other social media platforms to express their frustration at being unable to tweet. And as you might expect, they’re not being shy about it.

“Twitter is down. I repeat, Twitter is down. The world is ending,” one person tweeted.

“Twitter is down and I feel like I’m in the middle of a blackout. No power, no lights, no tweets,” another person wrote.

“Twitter is down and I am LOSING MY MIND,” one person said.

“Is it just me or is Twitter down? I feel like I’m in the twilight zone,” another person tweeted.

“Twitter is down and I am having a nervous breakdown,” one person said.

“Twitter is down and I’m starting to freak out. What do I do with my hands?” another person wrote.

“Twitter is down and I don’t know what to do with myself,” one person said.

“Twitter is down and I feel like a part of me is missing,” another person tweeted.

“Twitter is down and I am having a meltdown,” one person said.
