These are the most popular baby names of 2017


The most popular baby names of 2017 have been announced and there are some clear favourites emerging. For girls, Olivia and Amelia were the most popular names, whilst for boys it was George and Harry.

There were some other notable trends in the data too. For example, there was a significant increase in the use of gender-neutral names, with Harper, Rowan and Quinn all seeing significant jumps in popularity.

There were also a number of names which saw big increases in popularity thanks to celebrities. For girls, this included the name Khaleesi (thanks to Game of Thrones) and for boys it was Bear (after Bear Grylls).

So what will be the most popular baby names of 2018? Only time will tell, but it looks like Olivia and George will be holding onto their crowns for another year!
