A little over a year ago, a woman made headlines by embarking on a diet that consisted solely of fruit. For 365 days, she ate nothing but fruit – no other food, no supplements, no water even. Just fruit. And at the end of the year, she claimed to have lost weight, improved her skin and hair, and gained more energy.
The woman, who goes by the name “Freelee the Banana Girl”, says that she’s always been interested in health and nutrition, and after trying a number of different diets, she decided to give fruitarianism a shot. She says that she initially struggled with the diet, as she was used to eating a lot of processed and junk food, but after a couple of weeks, she started to feel better.
Freelee says that she ate around 20-30 bananas a day, as well as other fruits like mangoes, papayas, and grapes. She also made smoothies and juices from fruits like watermelon and pineapple. And while she admits that she sometimes felt hungry, she never felt deprived or like she was missing out on anything.
At the end of the year, Freelee says that she had lost 20 pounds, her skin was clearer and her hair was shinier. She also felt more energetic and slept better at night. While she says that she doesn’t plan on eating only fruit forever, she does think that it’s a great way to detox your body and give your digestive system a break.
If you’re thinking of trying a fruitarian diet, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First of all, make sure to eat a variety of fruits to get all the nutrients your body needs. Secondly, drink plenty of water, as fruits can be dehydrating. And lastly, don’t be afraid to add in a few other foods like vegetables or nuts if you start to feel deprived.
