The One Surprising Thing That Helped Me Overcome My Fear of Flying


When I was younger, I was absolutely terrified of flying. I would get so anxious thinking about getting on a plane that I would start to feel sick to my stomach. I would have all sorts of terrifying thoughts going through my head about the plane crashing or something going wrong with the engine. I would get so worked up that I would start to hyperventilate and I would have to use all of my willpower to keep myself from having a full-blown panic attack.

It was honestly one of the most debilitating things in my life. It prevented me from going on vacation with my family or taking trips with my friends. I even missed out on a lot of opportunities at work because I was too afraid to fly. I was always the person who would have to drive hours and hours to get to my destination because I just couldn’t bring myself to get on a plane.

But then one day, I decided that enough was enough. I was tired of feeling like a prisoner in my own life and I wanted to see the world. I knew that if I didn’t do something about my fear of flying, I was going to miss out on a lot of great experiences.

So, I started doing some research and I found out about a program called “fear of flying school.” It’s basically a program where you spend a few days learning about how planes work and you even get to go on a few short flights to get used to the feeling of being in the air.

I decided to give it a try and it was honestly the best decision I’ve ever made. After a few days of being in the program, I was starting to feel so much better about flying. I was no longer feeling sick to my stomach and my anxiety was starting to dissipate. I even took my first solo flight and it was honestly one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life.

I’m not saying that my fear of flying is completely gone. I still get a little anxious when I’m boarding a plane but it’s nothing like it used to be. I’m now able to fly without any problem and I’ve even been able to take some amazing trips that I never would have been able to do before.
