The Cookie Monster is now a vegan!

The iconic blue furry monster who loves cookies has announced that he is now a vegan. The Cookie Monster, whose real name is Sid, made the announcement on his Twitter account, stating that he “has been thinking about this for a long time” and that he is “starting a new chapter in [his] life.”

Sid has been the Cookie Monster since the early days of Sesame Street, and has been one of the show’s most popular characters. He is known for his insatiable appetite for cookies, as well as his signature catchphrase, “Me want cookie!”

While the Cookie Monster’s love for cookies has always been clear, his switch to a vegan lifestyle may come as a surprise to some. However, Sid says that he has actually been “thinking about this for a long time.”

In recent years, there has been an increased awareness of the impact of animal agriculture on the environment. The United Nations has reported that the livestock sector is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, and it is estimated that animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon rainforest destruction.

As the Cookie Monster, Sid has always been an advocate for healthy eating habits. In 2010, he appeared in a public service announcement for the USDA’s “MyPlate” campaign, which encourages Americans to eat a balanced diet.

Now, the Cookie Monster is taking his message a step further by advocating for a vegan lifestyle. He joins a growing list of celebrities and public figures who have recently made the switch to a plant-based diet, including Bill Clinton, Lewis Hamilton, and Ellen DeGeneres.

The Cookie Monster’s announcement has been met with mixed reactions on social media. Some people are supportive of his decision and are applauding him for “leading by example.”

Others, however, are skeptical of his motives, with some wondering if he is simply “jumping on the vegan bandwagon.”

Regardless of the mixed reactions, the Cookie Monster’s decision to go vegan is a significant step in the right direction. With more and more people becoming aware of the devastating impact of animal agriculture, it is hoped that the Cookie Monster’s decision will inspire others to make the switch to a plant-based diet.
