The benefits of cuddling vs. the benefits of sleeping alone

There’s nothing quite like waking up in the morning and cuddling with your loved one. The feeling of their warm body against yours, the gentle rise and fall of their chest as they breathe, it’s all incredibly comforting. And it turns out, there are some pretty great benefits to cuddling, both physically and emotionally.

On the physical side, cuddling can help lower blood pressure and heart rate, as well as reduce stress and anxiety. The release of oxytocin (the “cuddle hormone”) during extended periods of skin-to-skin contact can also promote healing and reduce pain.

On the emotional side, cuddling can help boost self-esteem and confidence, improve communication and relationship satisfaction, and even increase feelings of happiness and well-being. In fact, one study found that couples who cuddled more often were more likely to report higher levels of relationship satisfaction.

So if you’re looking for a way to improve your physical and emotional health, cuddling may be just what you need. And if you’re worried about disturbing your partner’s sleep, don’t be – a good cuddle can actually help them sleep better, too!
