My life in a van: why I gave up my comfortable home to live on the road

The first time I ever set foot in a van was the day I moved all my worldly possessions into it. It was a Ford Econoline from the early 1990s, and it was love at first sight. I spent the next year and a half living in that van, and it was the best time of my life. I loved the freedom and the simplicity of van life. I didn’t have to worry about bills or rent, and I could go wherever I wanted, whenever I wanted.

I eventually sold that van and bought a bigger one, and I’ve been living in it ever since. It’s been over three years now, and I can’t imagine ever going back to living in a house or an apartment. I’m not saying that van life is for everyone, but it’s definitely for me.

There are a lot of misconceptions about van life, so let me clear a few things up. First of all, it’s not all about living in a van. Yes, that’s a big part of it, but it’s not the only thing. For me, van life is about freedom and simplicity. I don’t have to worry about bills or rent, and I can go wherever I want, whenever I want.

Another misconception is that van life is always dirty and cramped. Yes, living in a van can be dirty and cramped, but it doesn’t have to be. I keep my van clean and tidy, and I’ve made a lot of modifications to make it more comfortable.

So, why did I give up my comfortable home to live in a van? For me, it was a no-brainer. I love the freedom and simplicity of van life, and I can’t imagine ever going back to living in a house or an apartment.
