I Tried the ‘One Minute Rule’ and It Totally Transformed My Life

I’ve always been a procrastinator.

I’ll never forget the time when I was in college and had to write a 10-page research paper. I waited until the night before it was due to start writing, and ended up pulling an all-nighter to get it done.

Or the time I had to clean my entire apartment before my parents came to visit, and I waited until the day they were scheduled to arrive to start cleaning. (Needless to say, they were not impressed.)

I’ve always told myself that I work better under pressure, and that’s why I tend to procrastinate. But the truth is, I’ve just been too lazy to change my ways.

But recently, I decided enough was enough. I was sick of putting things off, and I wanted to find a way to get things done without all the stress.

That’s when I came across the “one minute rule.”

The one minute rule is simple: if there’s something you can do in one minute or less, do it right away.

For example, if you’re at home and you see that the kitchen counter needs to be wiped down, do it right then and there. Don’t wait until later or tell yourself you’ll do it when you have more time.
