It all started when I saw a Facebook post about trying the “no-poo” method. The premise is simple: stop washing your hair with shampoo and see what happens. I was intrigued. I had always been a “low-poo” person, only washing my hair a few times a week, but I was curious to see if I could go even longer. Plus, I had read that not washing your hair can actually be better for your hair in the long run.
So, I decided to give it a try. For two months, I stopped washing my hair with shampoo. I didn’t use any other products either, not even conditioner. I just let my hair do its thing.
Here’s what I learned:
1. My hair didn’t get as greasy as I thought it would.
I was surprised that my hair didn’t get as greasy as I thought it would. I expected to have to wear a lot of hats, but my hair only looked a little oily at the end of the day. It was nothing a dry shampoo couldn’t fix.
2. It saved me time in the morning.
Not having to wash my hair every day saved me a lot of time in the morning. I used to spend at least 15 minutes in the shower shampooing and conditioning my hair. Now, I can get in and out of the shower in 5 minutes or less.
3. It saved me money on hair products.
I used to spend a lot of money on shampoo, conditioner, and other hair products. Now that I’m not using any of those products, I’ve saved a lot of money.
4. My hair felt healthier.
Since I wasn’t stripping my hair with shampoo, it felt a lot healthier. It was softer and less brittle.
5. I got used to it.
At first, it was strange not to wash my hair. But after a few weeks, I got used to it and it didn’t bother me anymore.
If you’re thinking about trying the no-poo method, I say go for it! It’s not as difficult as it sounds, and you might be surprised at how well it works.
