I Taught A 1-Year-Old How To Use An iPhone, And Now He’s Addicted

It all started innocently enough. I was sitting in a coffee shop, working on my laptop and sipping my latte when I noticed a young boy, probably around 1 year old, playing with an iPhone that was lying on the table. The boy’s mother was sitting next to him, and she looked tired and frazzled. I asked her if I could help her with her son, and she gratefully handed me the phone.

I showed the young boy how to swipe the screen to unlock the phone, and then I showed him how to access the home screen. I showed him how to open apps and how to play games. The boy was fascinated and he quickly learned how to use the phone.

Now, every time I see the boy, he asks for my phone. He has even started to cry when I don’t let him use it. I have become the enabler of his addiction, and I feel guilty.

The boy’s mother has even started to ask me to babysit so that she can have a break. I don’t mind babysitting, but I feel like I’m enabling the boy’s addiction.

I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to be the cause of the boy’s addiction, but I can’t seem to stop myself from teaching him how to use the phone.

  1. It’s sad that the child is already addicted to technology at such a young age. It’s even more Sad that the mother is relying on someone else to babysit so she can have a break from her son. The whole situation is just very sad.
