Sidewalk chalk is a fun way to add some color to your mundane sidewalk. But why buy chalk when you can make your own? It’s easy, and you probably have all the materials you need already!
To make your own sidewalk chalk, you’ll need:
-plaster of Paris
-molds (small plastic toys work great!)
First, mix together the plaster of Paris and water in a bowl. The ratio should be about 2 parts plaster to 1 part water. Once it’s mixed, add in a few drops of food coloring and stir until the desired color is reached.
Next, spoon the mixture into your molds. Fill them up as much as possible, then tap the mold on the counter a few times to release any air bubbles. Allow the chalk to harden for at least 24 hours.
Once the chalk is hard, pop it out of the mold and get ready to have some fun! Draw pictures, write words, or whatever else your imagination comes up with. Just make sure to keep your chalk out of reach of small children, as it can be a choking hazard.
