How to Bake the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie

-2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1 teaspoon salt
-1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
-¾ cup granulated sugar
-¾ cup packed light-brown sugar
-2 large eggs
-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease two baking sheets with butter or shortening.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
