Do You Suffer From ‘FOBO’?

The Fear Of Better Options (FOBO) is a condition that can afflict anyone at any time. It’s the anxious feeling that there might be something better out there, even if what you have is perfectly good.

You might suffer from FOBO if you’re constantly on the lookout for new restaurants, even though the one you go to is perfectly fine. Or if you’re always looking for a new job, even though you like the one you have. Maybe you’re always trying to upgrade your phone, or your car, or your clothes, or your house. Even if what you have is perfectly good, you can’t help but wonder if there might be something better out there.

FOBO can be a real problem because it can prevent you from enjoying what you have. You might miss out on the good things in your life because you’re too busy looking for something better. And even if you do find something better, it’s often not as good as you thought it would be. So you end up feeling disappointed, and you start the cycle all over again.

If you think you might be suffering from FOBO, there are a few things you can do to help. First, try to be aware of it when it happens. When you start to feel that anxious feeling, stop and ask yourself if you really need what you’re looking for. Is it worth jeopardizing what you have for something that might not be any better?

Second, try to focus on the good things in your life. Remind yourself of all the things you have to be thankful for. This can help you appreciate what you have, instead of always being focused on what you don’t have.

Finally, don’t be afraid to take a chance. Sometimes, the best way to overcome FOBO is to take a leap of faith. Go ahead and try that new restaurant, or apply for that new job. You might be surprised at how good it is. And even if it’s not, you’ll at least know that you tried.
