We all know that furry little face that greets us at the door after a long day and the wagging tail that is just so happy to see us, no matter what. For many of us, our dogs are our best friends and closest confidants. We love them unconditionally and would do just about anything for them. So it should come as no surprise that a new survey has found that we love our dogs more than our partners!
The survey, conducted by Rover.com, found that 22% of dog owners say they love their dog more than their partner. When asked why, the most common response was that dogs are always happy and always there for us, no matter what. They are always happy to see us and they are always there to listen, even if we don’t have anything exciting to say.
Dogs are also much less likely to judge us and they are always ready and willing to cuddle, no matter what kind of day we’ve had. In contrast, our partners can sometimes be judgmental, critical, or just plain grumpy. And let’s be honest, sometimes we just don’t want to be cuddled!
It’s not just that we love our dogs more than our partners, it’s that we like them better too. The survey found that 60% of dog owners said they like their dog better than their partner. Ouch!
The survey also asked dog owners about the kinds of things they do for their dogs that they wouldn’t do for their partners. 34% of respondents said they would give up alcohol for their dog, while only 9% said they would give up alcohol for their partner. 29% of respondents said they would give up caffeine for their dog, while only 8% said they would give up caffeine for their partner.
And it’s not just that we’re willing to give up things for our dogs, we’re also willing to spend more money on them. The survey found that 67% of dog owners have spent more money on their dog than on their partner.
When it comes to why we love our dogs more than our partners, it seems that it all comes down to the fact that they are just always there for us, no matter what. They are always happy to see us and they never judge us. They are always ready and willing to cuddle and they just make our lives better. So, if you’re wondering if you love your dog more than your partner, it’s pretty clear that the answer is yes!
