If you grew up in the United States, chances are good that you were taught how to use a knife and fork by your parents or in school. But if you’re from another country, you may not have had the same opportunity to learn. Here are some tips on how to use a knife and fork correctly, so that you can enjoy your meals without making a mess.
Place your fork in your left hand and your knife in your right hand.
When you’re cutting your food, hold the fork in your left hand and use the knife in your right hand to cut off small pieces. Then, switch the fork to your right hand and bring the piece of food to your mouth.
If you’re eating something that doesn’t need to be cut, such as a piece of fruit, you can pick it up with your fork and eat it like that.
When you’re finished with your meal, put your knife and fork on your plate with the fork tines facing up and the knife blade facing in.
Now that you know how to use a knife and fork, get out there and enjoy your next meal!
