Dalmatian saves owner from burning building by peeing on the fire

When firefighters in Detroit, Michigan, arrived at a burning building on Saturday, they found a Dalmatian mix dog named Mia standing guard at the front door.

The dog’s owner, 21-year-old Emily Hernandez, had left Mia inside the building when she went to pick up her child from a neighbor’s house.

“I was just about to go back in and get her and the firefighters were like, ‘No, you can’t go back in there,'” Hernandez told WXYZ-TV.

Hernandez said she believes Mia saved her life by alerted the neighbors and firefighters to the fire.

“She’s my hero,” Hernandez said. “She’s my everything.”

Mia was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene and is expected to recover.
