A Dietitian’s Thoughts on the New ‘Healthy’ Oreos

As a dietitian, I was intrigued when I saw the new ‘healthy’ Oreos on the shelves. I’ve always liked Oreos – they’re a classic cookie that has stood the test of time. But, I’ve never been a huge fan of the ‘Double Stuf’ versions or the Oreos that have been flavored with different cremes (mint, pumpkin spice, etc.). To me, the classic Oreo – with its simple chocolate cookie and vanilla creme filling – is the best.

So, I was curious to see how the new ‘healthy’ Oreos compared to the originals. I was also interested to see if they would be a good option for people who are looking for a healthier snack.

Here’s what I found:

The new ‘healthy’ Oreos are made with whole wheat flour, non-GMO cane sugar, and natural flavors. They also have less sugar and calories than the original Oreos. One Oreo has 70 calories and 3 grams of sugar, while a regular Oreo has 90 calories and 4 grams of sugar.

The new ‘healthy’ Oreos also have a few added nutrients, including calcium, iron, and vitamin E.

So, what do I think of the new ‘healthy’ Oreos?

Overall, I think they’re a good option for people who are looking for a healthier snack. They have less sugar and calories than the regular Oreos, and they also have some added nutrients.

That said, I don’t think they’re a ‘health food’ by any means. They’re still a treat, and I would recommend eating them in moderation.

If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to Oreos, there are plenty of other options out there. There are plenty of whole grain cookies that are just as delicious as Oreos, and there are also many ‘no sugar added’ or ‘sugar free’ cookies that would be a better choice for people who are watching their sugar intake.

So, if you’re looking for a healthier cookie option, the new ‘healthy’ Oreos are a good choice. But, if you’re looking for a health food, you’re better off looking elsewhere.
