5 Weird Animals That Are Actually Real

There are some pretty weird animals out there. Some of them are so weird that you might not even believe that they’re real. But they are! Here are five of the weirdest animals that are actually real.

1. The axolotl

The axolotl is a weird looking creature that is actually a type of salamander. It’s native to Mexico and can grow to be about a foot long. But the really weird thing about axolotls is that they can regenerate their limbs! So if an axolotl loses a leg, it can grow a new one.

2. The blobfish

The blobfish is a deep sea fish that looks like, well, a blob. It doesn’t have any bones and is made mostly of jelly-like flesh. The blobfish doesn’t swim, it just kind of floats around in the water.

3. The tarsier

The tarsier is a small, furry creature that looks like a cross between a monkey and a rat. It’s native to Southeast Asia and is known for its huge eyes. Tarsiers can turn their heads almost all the way around, so they can look behind them without moving their bodies.

4. The aye-aye

The aye-aye is a weird looking creature that is native to Madagascar. It looks like a cross between a monkey and a rat, and it has long, sharp claws. Aye-ayes use these claws to climb trees and to find food. They also have a long, thin middle finger that they use to tap on tree trunks. This helps them find bugs to eat.

5. The anglerfish

The anglerfish is a deep sea fish that is named for its long, protruding “fishing rod”. This rod has a lure on the end of it that the anglerfish uses to attract prey. When an unsuspecting fish comes close, the anglerfish opens its huge mouth and swallows the fish whole!
