5 steps to overcome procrastination

Assuming you would like a five-step plan to overcoming procrastination:

1. Understand Your Why – In order to change your procrastination habit, you need to first understand why you do it. Do you struggle with perfectioism? Fear of failure? Indecision? Once you understand your triggers, you can begin to work on addressing them.

2. Set Small, Achievable Goals – When you’re stuck in a procrastination rut, the idea of completing a huge project can be daunting. So break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Set a goal for the day or week, and focus on taking things one step at a time.

3. Create a timeline – Having a timeline for a project can help you visualize the end goal and better estimate how long each task will take. This can help you avoid getting overwhelmed, and better prioritize your time.

4. Find an Accountability Partner – Sometimes it helps to have someone to keep you accountable. Find a friend or colleague who is also working on a similar goal, and check in with each other regularly to help stay on track.

5. Take a Break – If you find yourself getting frustrated or stuck, sometimes the best thing to do is take a break. Step away from the project for a bit, and come back fresh. You may find that you’re able to approach the task with fresh eyes and a new perspective.
