The winter season can be tough on our health. The cold weather and shorter days can make it hard to stay active and eat healthy. But there are some simple things you can do to stay healthy this winter.
1. Get outside every day
Make sure to get outside for at least 30 minutes every day, even when it’s cold. Bundle up in a warm coat, hat, and scarf and go for a walk, run, or bike ride. Getting some fresh air and Vitamin D from the sun will do wonders for your mood and energy levels.
2. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that boost your immune system and keep your body healthy. Eat a rainbow of colors to get the most benefit, and don’t forget to eat your leafy greens!
3. Drink lots of water
Staying hydrated is important for overall health, and it’s especially important in the winter when we tend to drink less water. Make sure to drink 8 glasses of water a day, and more if you’re active or sweating.
4. Get enough sleep
Sleep is essential for good health, and most of us don’t get enough. Make sure to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night to give your body time to recover and heal.
5. Wash your hands
Washing your hands is one of the best ways to prevent getting sick. Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and use hand sanitizer when you can’t wash your hands.
